Wedge Gardens is available to do drug and alcohol abuse awareness talks at schools and in workplaces.
The Sanca-affiliated rehabilitation centre, situated close to both Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni, offers a diversion programme for employees whose work is being affected by addiction issues and who may thus need counselling or rehabilitation. This is in addiction to a full range of holistic substance abuse treatment programmes.

On May 5, social workers Karen Griessel (left), Lizette Treurnich (middle) and Rhulani Khosa (right) from Rand Aid’s Wedge Gardens treatment centre attended the opening of the new counselling and migrant support centre at the Hillbrow Theatre. Upon arrival, the counsellors were treated to a performance called Isaro directed by Gcebile Dlamini, under the far-reaching Hillbrow Theatre Project that offers after-school performance arts programmes to children and youth who live or attend school in Hillbrow. Fun, sun and braaivleis were the order of the day on March 30 when Rand Aid’s Wedge Gardens treatment centre held its annual aftercare function. Therapist Rhulani Khosa (pictured), who is in charge of the rehabilitation centre’s sports programme, not only organised a range of different sport events on the day, but ensures that daily opportunities exist for the residents to spend their leisure time productively.
